Are you a hands-on and strong technical expert and problem solver who has the ability to challenge and debate technical and operational challenges with your team and suppliers? Have you have worked in hardware development and manufacturing, including environments in which you integrated components from multiple third party manufacturers? Do you have a background in remote sensing systems? Do you understand how to effectively manage third party providers through the design, development and manufacturing phases?

As Vice President Hardware and Production, you will lead a technical team that is responsible for working with third party hardware manufacturers of drones and sensors to develop and produce integrated UAV solutions that meet the needs of PrecisionHawk’s customers in target segments (Agriculture, Construction, Energy, Government and Insurance). In this role you will work with the CTO, VP Software Development and other members of the leadership team to understand our key business drivers and convert those into hardware offerings. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, evaluating, developing and managing relationships with third party developers and manufacturers of drones, sensors and other hardware components to identify the best suppliers to meet PrecisionHawk client needs
  • Understanding needs and feedback from customers and business development teams at PrecisionHawk and developing product requirements and specifications for third-party developers, contractors, and partners;
  • Managing the development and integration programs with vendors and partners, including managing designs, manufacturing documentation, and production records;
  • Ensuring that these third parties are delivering to quality specifications and meet required timeliness
  • Building, managing and developing a team of engineers and technicians to achieve hardware and production goals
  • Partnering with Software Development to ensure that our Hardware and Software solutions work seamlessly for the client
  • Working with the Sales and Finance teams to ensure that we meet production timelines
  • Ensuring that the hardware team is consistently and actively engaged in supporting client success

  • Leadership experience working in hardware development/manufacturing. Experience working for early to mid stage high growth companies is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in technical subcontract management
  • Demonstrated success as a strategic business leader. Strong communication, listening, interpersonal skills and motivator of people.
  • You understand what it takes to work within an existing infrastructure while developing and deploying scalable processes, and to make budgetary tradeoffs to achieve objectives
  • A strong system engineering capability, as well as a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical and software technologies, tools and development methodologies
